Según datos proporcionados por Global Forest Watch, tiene registrado que hasta el año 2016 las entidades con mayor pérdida de cobertura boscosa fueron: Chiapas (68mil 236 hectáreas), Campeche (56 mil 424 hectáreas), Quintana Roo (38 mil 811 hectáreas), Oaxaca (26mil 191 hectáreas), Yucatán (24 mil 412 hectáreas) y Veracruz (23 mil 844 hectáreas).
